Hierarchy levels structure users and content within the platform and are managed from the back office. Learner areas form the root level of the hierarchy and may contain nested hierarchy levels. Each learner area is associated with an API key and has its own dedicated administration interface, separate from the back office.

Impact on user roles

  • Administrators are global users with access to all hierarchy levels. They can create learner areas and nested levels and assign users to them.
  • Other back-office roles are assigned to a single learner area or to its nested level.
The back office is shared and dynamically adapts to the user’s role and assigned hierarchy level, displaying only the content and users they are authorized to manage.
See User roles for more details.
  • A learner’s hierarchy level is assigned in the learner area when creating or editing a user.

Training management

  • Administrators can access and manage all content across all hierarchy levels.
  • Content managers can be restricted to a hierarchy level. In this case, they can create and edit trainings only for their assigned level and its nested levels.

Statistics

  • Administrators can view statistics across all hierarchy levels.
  • Statistic managers can be restricted to a hierarchy level. Restricted statistic managers can view only user results at or below their assigned level. In this case, they can view statistics only for their assigned level and its nested levels.
  • Statistics can be filtered by hierarchy level.

Impact on learners

Training availability

Trainings can be restricted to specific hierarchy levels. Restricted trainings are available only to users assigned to the selected hierarchy level or its nested levels. If no restrictions are set, training is available to all learners across all learner areas.

Social functionality

Learner area settings allow you to restrict whether learners can see all public learner profiles within the same learner area, or only learners at the same hierarchy level.
