# Certificates

There are two interfaces for working with certificates under **Tools** in the left-hand menu:

* **Manage certificate templates** for managing existing certificate templates.
* **Create certificate templates** for creating certificate templates.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_173918414.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=f88f216a6304c925811ba20295b93814" alt="Image 2026 02 17 173918414" title="Image 2026 02 17 173918414" className="mx-auto" style={{ width:"30%" }} width="382" height="322" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_173918414.png" />

## The dashboard

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_174242419.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=b5806f438daf660800a02a4b1be37f52" alt="Image 2026 02 17 174242419" className="mx-auto" width="1024" height="592" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_174242419.png" />

The dashboard table shows all the certificates with the following attributes:

**ID**: The ID of the certificate template.

**Name of the certificate template**: The title of the certificate template.

**Creation date**: The date when the certificate template was published.

**Status**: The publication status of the certificate template. There are two possible statuses:

* ***Published***: The certificate template has been published and is accessible to relevant users.
* ***Not published***: The certificate template was not published or unpublished.

**Actions:** Apart from attributes, each certificate template has icons for two actions:

1. **Edit**: Clicking this icon opens the certificate template editing interface.
2. **Export**: Clicking this icon initiates the download of the certificate template as a PDF.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_174349696.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=f65592112716671a9a7d8a8e247e87ba" alt="Image 2026 02 17 174349696" title="Image 2026 02 17 174349696" className="mx-auto" width="1024" height="169" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_174349696.png" />

The table can be sorted by a certificate’s ID or name to display the results in ascending or descending order. To do that, click on the name of the attribute.

You can also publish, unpublish, and delete selected trainings right from the table by checking the box next to the item and choosing the action from the list above the table:

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_174437998.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=7147e3fdcd72d7f0887e4d3b3a6a88be" alt="Image 2026 02 17 174437998" title="Image 2026 02 17 174437998" className="mx-auto" width="1024" height="389" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_174437998.png" />

<Note>
  **Note**: You cannot unpublish or delete a certificate that is already in use, i.e., assigned to a training.
</Note>

You can filter the list of certificate templates by several parameters: the name or ID of the certificate template, its publication status, and its creation date range.

The certificate template creation tool will open:

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_175505516.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=e20bfd9d74f71c72a37c541a13281b24" alt="Image 2026 02 17 175505516" title="Image 2026 02 17 175505516" className="mx-auto" style={{ width:"75%" }} width="1024" height="1130" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_175505516.png" />

Here, you can enter the certificate name and select its orientation and design. There are two sheet orientation options available: landscape and portrait. The three default design options are minimalist, classic, and modern.

After you have applied all the necessary settings on this page, click the **Continue** button.

On the next page, you can see the preview of the certificate template and edit its content.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_175026111.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=45dfd3564441ee2044acfe21172503df" alt="Image 2026 02 17 175026111" title="Image 2026 02 17 175026111" className="mx-auto" width="1024" height="1448" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_175026111.png" />

In the **Non-editable elements** section, you can enter placeholder text for fields that automatically populate when the certificate is issued, such as the learner's name, training title, and completion date. The preview on the right updates automatically to reflect these changes. These inputs are not saved.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_175045366.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=14458add3b48d85e4c89c9febd9928c3" alt="Image 2026 02 17 175045366" title="Image 2026 02 17 175045366" className="mx-auto" style={{ width:"48%" }} width="520" height="494" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_175045366.png" />

In the **Customizable fields** section, you can add the following elements to customize and brand the certificate template:

* Company address
* Company logo: You can add one .png file under 500 MB. It's automatically adjusted to fit the certificate.
* Company name
* Custom message above the learner's name
* QR code linking to an external resource: You can add one file under 500 MB in the following formats: .png, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .webp. It's automatically adjusted to fit the certificate.
* Subline with the descriptor text below the certificate title

To remove the customizable field from the template, click the **Delete** icon next to it:

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_175248842.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=5643a220ef41503b12644d9e67418ffd" alt="Image 2026 02 17 175248842" title="Image 2026 02 17 175248842" className="mx-auto" style={{ width:"55%" }} width="542" height="254" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_175248842.png" />

After you have finished creating the certificate template, click **Save as draft** to save it but not publish it, or click **Save and publish** to publish the template.

## Certificate template editing

To edit the certificate template, go to the **Manage certificate templates** dashboard and click the **Edit** icon next to the certificate you want to edit.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_175314642.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=5904a1bd2b38d06c97d6904ad691dbbe" alt="Image 2026 02 17 175314642" title="Image 2026 02 17 175314642" className="mx-auto" width="640" height="198" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_175314642.png" />

The steps for editing the certificate template are the same as those during its creation.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_175333875.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=714168e25f818e76e4529b9f3fac46df" alt="Image 2026 02 17 175333875" title="Image 2026 02 17 175333875" className="mx-auto" width="1024" height="801" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_175333875.png" />

After you've edited the certificate template that's been previously published, click **Save** to save the changes or click **Unpublish** to unpublish it.

If you are editing an unpublished certificate template, click Save as draft to save it but not publish it, or click **Save and publish** to publish the template.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/connect-i/6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N/images/image_2026-02-17_175349575.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6rVIGvXbgnIEkd-N&q=85&s=cbb4e3da0a83aa488b541fb6130c0be3" alt="Image 2026 02 17 175349575" title="Image 2026 02 17 175349575" className="mx-auto" style={{ width:"47%" }} width="532" height="130" data-path="images/image_2026-02-17_175349575.png" />

Published certificates can then be added to a training of your choice during [Step 3 of the training creation](https://docs.opigno.com/training-creation#adding-a-certificate).
